Two Cases of Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection.



Abstract
We have experienced two cases of Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection. The first case was a 50 days old female baby who was hospitalized in our hospital because of fever. She was born 37 weeks, 1880gm. In the past history, she had received an
exchange
transfusion due to severe jaundice. She was characterized by microcephaly, failure to thrive, hepatosplenomegaly, petechiae, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia and polymicrogyri on brain MRI. In her hospital days. she was improved, but after
discharge,
she expired because of status epilepticus.
The second case was a 40 days old male baby who was hospitalized in our hospital because of marked abdominal distension. On his physical examination, he was characterized by microcephaly, hepatosplenomegaly, inguinal hernia and jaundice. He was
improved
and discharged.
In both cases, CMV Ig M and Ig G was positive.
